Antibiotics

This includes numerous important antibiotics that play a crucial role in the treatment of serious infectious diseases.
Fosfomycin is the smallest known antibiotic with high tissue penetration capacity and a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative germs.

Vancomycin is a glycopeptide that is administered orally for the treatment of Clostridium difficile infections and i.v. against severe infections caused by gram-positive germs.
(Vancomycin Dr. Eberth 125 mg and 250 mg hard capsules or Vancocin 500 mg and 1 g SmPC; as of 01/2021).
The Astro Pharma range also includes azithromycin, colistin and various cefalosporins.

Biosimilars
As one of the first companies in Austria, Astro Pharma has been active in the field of biosimilars since 2008 and has correspondingly extensive experience and a broad product range.
Biosimilars are high-quality follow-on biologics and make an important contribution to security of supply and optimal therapeutic options.
Astro Pharma is on the market with the biosimilar of a proven and effective TNF blocker that is administered intravenously and is particularly effective in treating Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis as well as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis.
Astro Pharma also has biosimilars of two monoclonal used in cancer therapy. These are on the one hand used with HER2 positive breast cancer, on the other hand especially/particularly for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphatic leukemia but also rheumatoid arthritis.
As a specialist in the biosimilar sector, Astro Pharma aims to expand its product range and to be an important partner of the Austrian healthcare system.

Iron infusion
Monofer contains a combination of iron and derisomaltose (a chain of modified sugar molecules). The form of iron contained in Monofer corresponds to the form that occurs naturally in the body, which is called ‘ferritin’. This means that Monofer can be administered in high doses as an injection.
Monofer is used for low iron levels (also called ‘iron deficiency’ or ‘iron deficiency anemia’) when:
– oral iron is not effective or you cannot tolerate it.
– your doctor decides that you need iron very quickly to replenish your iron stores
Vaccines
Astro Pharma is marketing authorization holder of the bivalent Tetanus/Diphtheria vaccines Td-pur® in Germany and Austria and DIF-TET-ALL® in Italy.
Astro Pharma has taken over these former Novartis vaccines from GlaxoSmithKline with long-term supply agreements. Astro Pharma is committed to taking responsibility with vaccines as well and to proving itself as a reliable and deliverable partner to the Austrian healthcare system.

Oncology Products
Astro Pharma has been active in the field of oncology products for a long time. Our oncology products have a wide range of applications spanning oncology, hematology and dermatology.
With the two biosimilars Herzuma® and Truxima®, Astro Pharma benefits from its many years of experience with high-quality follow-on products from biologics and thus contributes to an expansion of therapeutic options as well as security of supply.
Areas of application are mainly non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and HER2 positive breast cancer.
Astro Pharma has been marketing the hedgehog inhibitor Odomzo® since November 2020. This is used in adults with locally advanced basal cell carcinoma for whom curative surgery or radiotherapy are not an option.
